Site Policies
The rumor mill is always active at MMA, but it is frequently inaccurate and this often causes unnecessary stress for a number of people.
Who asked for this site and what is its purpose?
This site was created at the request and with the participation of the MMA Student Government Association (SGA). The purpose of the Rumor Buster is to provide all members of the MMA community with a means to finding out the straight facts or get clarification of anything that they have heard through the campus “Rumor Mill/Campus Grapevine.”
What questions will be accepted and answered?
It is our hope that people will be responsible citizens and use good sense in their questions. Inquiries of a personal nature will not be answered. Questions concerning campus issues, changes, how to get something done and so on will certainly get responses.
Some questions can not be answered in a general sense because the answer may
vary depending on individual circumstances. If that is the case, you
will be referred to the person that can best answer the question according
to your circumstances.
Please review your question for capitalization and punctuation prior to
sending. The editor is not an English major nor has the time to
correct multiple errors prior to posting. Postings with improper
language or personal references will NOT be posted. Please be
respectful. An error here or there is understandable, we all make
them. But a three line question with ZERO punctuation and
capitalization is not acceptable and will not be printed.
If your question can be easily answered by another office, please email
or call that office. For example, When will grades be posted?
This is a simple answer that can be provided by the Registrar's Office.
Email or call them rather than use this site.
Timely Responses?
Easy responses will generally be posted within a day. If the response involves more time a note will be posted to that effect.
The original question along with the answer/clarification will be posted in the “Current Rumors” file so anyone looking at the site can identify the specific rumor being cleared up.
As responses are rotated out of the “Current Rumors” file, they will be placed in the “Archived Rumors” file so people can check up on what they may have missed.
Who answers the questions?
All inquiries are received by Deidra Davis, Dean of Students. In many cases she will do the research and provide the answer. In others, the question may be referred to members of the SGA for a response or to the appropriate administrator.
Privacy/Anonymity:
All visits to the site or any inquiries posted to the Rumor Buster site are done anonymously. The site does not record or track its visitors or the source of any inquiries.
